Prodoscore has published its 2024 State of the Staffing Industry Report, showcasing key productivity trends observed from January 1 to August 30, 2024, across 22 U.S. staffing organizations utilizing its AI-powered data intelligence platform.

The companies included in the 2024 State of the Staffing Industry report range in size from 20 to 1,500 employees across 32 different roles in the staffing ecosystem. Productivity was measured based on usage of various cloud tools (i.e., ATS, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack), which showed that employee productivity was on the decline in January through July but increased beginning in August.

Key findings from the data show:
  • Highly productive employees display distinct work habits compared to their lower productivity peers. Employees in the “above average” productivity group spent approximately two hours and 11 minutes per day in meetings, while employees in the “below average” group spent approximately one hour per day in meetings. Additionally, employees in the above-average productivity group are active in cloud tools for over six hours daily, while those in the below average-group show less than three hours of activity.
  • Manager to direct-report ratio is instrumental in identifying employee attrition. At high churn organizations, managers had 12 direct reports while at low churn organizations managers had five direct reports.
  • Employees using Large Language Models (LLMs) are more productive and work longer hours. There is a 15-21% increase in productivity among employees who use LLMs; these employees also work 90 minutes more per day than those who don’t use LLMs.
  • There is no difference in productivity whether employees are in-office vs. remote. Productivity remains consistent no matter where staffing employees are working from, countering concerns about their ability to work effectively outside of the office.

“Prodoscore has been pivotal in enhancing productivity and transparency across our workforce,” said Kevin Sailor, CEO and Managing Partner at Financial Recruiters International, a Prodoscore customer. “With real-time insights, we can make data-driven decisions that address potential issues before they impact our teams.
