Progress ShareFile Enterprise Enhances Document Governance

Progress Software has introduced ShareFile Enterprise, a new solution designed to help large and regulated organizations securely scale document collaboration from a centralized platform. The offering combines automated access controls, SOC-integrated visibility, built-in data loss prevention, intelligent risk monitoring and detailed investigation context, giving IT and security teams stronger oversight, control and governance of sensitive document workflows while maintaining a seamless user experience.

The result is a more scalable approach to document collaboration and file sharing that helps organizations reduce administrative burden, strengthen governance and support growth without changing how employees, clients and partners work.

Sensitive document collaboration in many organizations is expanding faster than the controls built to govern it. As organizations grow, more people and workflows interact with sensitive and confidential information. At the same time, IT and security teams often rely on manual provisioning, disconnected monitoring workflows, log exports, user judgment and fragmented investigations of anomalies. Together, these create additional operational overhead as collaboration scales. The challenge is no longer simply securing more files but maintaining consistent control without creating more work, increasing operational costs or slowing down the business.

“What became clear to us is that client collaboration is about much more than where files live,” said Scott Jenkins, Director of Information Technology, Keel Point. “We need the right controls, secure client experiences and workflows to support how we work with clients, families and their advisors. ShareFile gives us that foundation, and Enterprise gives us an opportunity to strengthen it with even greater security, governance and visibility.”

ShareFile Enterprise builds on established, secure ShareFile collaboration capabilities to meet the scale and governance needs of larger organizations, with enhanced access controls and unusual activity detection to help reduce administrative overhead and strengthen security. Native Data Loss Prevention applies consistent policies to sensitive content, AI-driven behavioral analytics helps surface unusual activity quickly and a centralized security experience connects alerts with the context teams need to support more informed investigation and response.

ShareFile Enterprise includes:

SCIM provisioning with Microsoft Entra ID: Automates employee provisioning and deactivation to help keep ShareFile access aligned with workforce changes and reduce repetitive access administration.

SIEM integration with Splunk and Microsoft Sentinel: Routes supported ShareFile activity and security events into existing SOC monitoring tools, providing ShareFile context where security teams already work and reducing dependence on manual log exports or custom integrations.

Native DLP: Detects supported sensitive text-based content and allows administrators to apply policies that can alert, restrict external sharing or prevent downloads, moving sensitive-data protection from user reminders to consistent policy enforcement.

User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA): Analyzes activity patterns to surface unusual behavior such as abnormal downloads, off-hours activity or atypical access patterns, helping security teams identify activity worth investigating sooner.

Centralized security operations experience: Brings supported security alerts, user and activity context and investigation paths into one place, helping shorten the distance between seeing an alert, understanding what happened and determining the next appropriate action.
“For most of the last decade, as enterprises’ needs for document collaboration have scaled, they have had to layer manual security and administration work on top of the tools their teams use. With today’s governance and security standards, that model is reaching its limits,” said Loren Jarrett, EVP and General Manager, Digital Experience, Progress Software. “With the new ShareFile Enterprise offering, organizations can gain built-in control as collaboration grows, without scaling manual administration and disconnected processes. That means better outcomes and more time spent supporting the business.”
