General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has appointed retired Maj. Gen. Ryan P. Heritage as vice president of full-spectrum cyber. In the new role, Heritage will work across GDIT to apply the company’s cybersecurity expertise to government missions across multiple domains. He will also lead GDIT’s cyber center of excellence and support the continued growth and development of its cybersecurity workforce.
Heritage brings more than 35 years of experience leading complex operations from the tactical to the strategic level around the globe. He most recently served as director of operations at U.S. Cyber Command, overseeing full-spectrum joint and combined cyberspace operations and cyber readiness across the Department of War.
His appointment comes at a time when AI is intensifying the speed and sophistication of cyber threats, creating new risks for federal agencies. GDIT continues to invest in advanced cyber capabilities to help customers safeguard national security, protect critical infrastructure and enable operational resilience. Recent awards reflect this commitment, including a $1.3 billion contract to deliver cybersecurity services for the Army National Guard and a $120 million task order to implement zero trust across 187 U.S. Air Force bases worldwide. Heritage’s leadership will further strengthen GDIT’s ability to deliver mission-focused solutions needed to secure customer operations in a dynamic threat environment.

Earlier in his career, Heritage served as commanding general for the Marine Corps Forces’ Cyber, Space and Information Commands, where he led thousands of personnel around the world and shaped the integration of emerging capabilities across cyber, space and information domains.

Heritage holds a bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University and master’s degrees from the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the U.S. Army War College. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Business Management Program.
