ColorTokens Inc. has appointed Louis (Lou) Eichenbaum as its Federal Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Bringing more than 20 years of experience advancing cybersecurity and modernizing IT systems for federal agencies—including his most recent role as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the U.S. Department of the Interior—Eichenbaum will drive ColorTokens’ federal technology strategy. He will focus on aligning solutions with mission-critical government requirements, evolving compliance standards, and the growing landscape of cyber threats. In addition, he will lead efforts to help federal agencies strengthen their defenses and build breach-ready security postures.
As DOI’s CISO, Eichenbaum provided government-wide cybersecurity leadership, overseeing the development of policies, risk frameworks, and compliance with FISMA, NIST, and FedRAMP standards. He directed large-scale cybersecurity initiatives including the execution of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), deployment of Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM). He also led national threat intelligence operations, collaborating with CISA, DHS, and the FBI on risk mitigation efforts.
Prior to his CISO role, Eichenbaum served as DOI’s Zero Trust Program Manager, where he built a 170-member implementation team, launched a Zero Trust Community of Practice with over 1,000 members, and secured critical congressional support for Zero Trust adoption.
As Federal CTO, Eichenbaum will shape ColorTokens’ technology roadmap for federal customers, ensuring solutions align with agency missions and evolving cyber threats. He will work closely with federal CIOs and CTOs to ensure technologies meet stringent compliance requirements while advancing AI, cloud security, and Zero Trust microsegmentation. His leadership will also strengthen ColorTokens’ support for government capture efforts, proposals, and the delivery of mission-ready cybersecurity solutions.
“Lou is an exceptional leader who blends strategic vision with operational execution,” said Jim Sutton, VP, ColorTokens Federal. “As agencies accelerate Zero Trust adoption and strengthen defenses against nation-state threats, Lou’s experience as a federal CISO, combined with his pioneering work in Zero Trust, makes him uniquely positioned to guide our federal technology strategy to deliver critical solutions tailored to federal missions.”
Eichenbaum has also held senior roles including Acting CISO at DOI, CISO for the Bureau of Land Management, and CISO for the Office of Surface Mining. Across these positions, he consistently advanced enterprise-wide monitoring, real-time risk awareness, and cultural adoption of cybersecurity best practices.
“I am honored to join ColorTokens at such a pivotal moment for federal cybersecurity,” said Eichenbaum. “Federal agencies face unique challenges in balancing mission readiness with security, and Zero Trust must be at the center of that transformation. ColorTokens’ innovative approach to microsegmentation and breach-ready security is exactly what agencies need to meet today’s threats while preparing for tomorrow’s challenges.”
