Ooma has introduced Ooma StarDial, a new home phone solution designed specifically for people using Starlink internet in rural, remote, and off-grid locations. The service uses Starlink connectivity to provide an affordable home phone option, extending voice communications to areas where traditional phone services may be limited or unavailable.
StarDial gives Starlink users a simple way to add reliable home phone service to their internet connection at a time when traditional phone options are disappearing. Telecommunications providers are retiring aging copper phone networks, while consumers in many rural and remote areas often face limited or unreliable cellular coverage.
StarDial includes a base station and cordless HD handset that, when connected to Starlink internet, provide unlimited nationwide calling at no extra charge beyond applicable taxes and fees.
StarDial also provides address-based 911 service, giving consumers an important way to reach emergency assistance from locations where cellular coverage may be limited. Ooma’s unique PureVoice technology and Adaptive Redundancy are designed to help maintain voice quality even when internet conditions fluctuate.
“Millions of consumers now rely on Starlink to stay connected in places that can be difficult to reach with traditional internet and cellular service, and they deserve a simple and affordable home phone option,” said Jim Gustke, senior vice president of marketing at Ooma. “Ooma has spent more than two decades making advanced home phone service simple and affordable, and StarDial brings that experience to Starlink-connected homes and other locations.”
StarDial also includes HD voice, caller ID, call waiting and voicemail, along with the ability for most customers to keep their existing phone number. More advanced features — including unlimited calling throughout North America, call blocking, voicemail-to-email forwarding, an instant second line and more — are available with Ooma Premier Service for only $9.99 per month plus applicable taxes and fees.
Setup takes about 15 minutes with no need for professional installation. Consumers simply connect StarDial to their Starlink’s Wi-Fi connection and pair the Ooma cordless handset with the StarDial base station.
While StarDial provides a new option for consumers living in rural and remote communities, its use extends beyond the primary residence. The service can also provide home phone connectivity for Starlink-connected cabins and vacation homes, as well as RVs, campers, vans and liveaboard boats.
